1. Every time I click on an item to purchase, I get an "Out of Stock" message. Is nothing in your store available?

The reason why the "Out of Stock" message is appearing is that most of the items we have for sale are one of a kind. If we only have one of a particular item and you put it in your basket, that particular item is no longer "in stock" and the "out of stock" message will appear. Think of it as there is one item on a shelf in a store and you picked it up to put it in your shopping cart. The shelf is now empty and the store is now "out of stock" of that particular item. If you click on your shopping cart, though, you will find the item is in your basket.

2. How much will postage for my order be?

The shopping cart calculates postage based on the estimated weight of the items that you order plus a $2.30 handling fee (for US buyers) or a $3.50 handling fee (for non-US buyers). The handling fee covers the cost of packaging materials and delivery confirmation (for US buyers). (The international handling fee is higher than the US handling fee because it costs more to ship the same weight in packaging materials out of the US than within it.)

Unfortunately, there is no way for the shopping cart to calculate your shipping costs before you check out. To find your exact costs, you will need to go through the Checkout system.  (You can, however, get an idea of what your costs might be by adding up the estimated weights of the items in your shopping cart, putting that amount in the USPS shipping calculator, and then adding the handling fee for your location.)

3. Why are my shipping costs so expensive?
Make sure you click on the drop down menu when the shopping cart asks you to select the postage method you'd prefer for you order so you can see all of your options. When we offer Express mail as a shipping option, that postage cost is the first one that appears on the list - and the only one you can see without clicking on the drop down menu.

If you are looking at all of your shipping options and still think the cheapest shipping option is too expensive, please remember that we do charge a handling fee.  (See Question #2.)

4. How do I add insurance to my order?
Right now there is no way for US buyers to have insurance automatically added to their total. The reason for this is that giving the option to add insurance requires buying a special module for the shopping cart and we simply haven't bought it yet.

I am happy to let people add insurance to their orders, though, upon request. If you would like insurance, please e-mail me, and I will either include the amount in your PayPal money request or give you a revised total for you to write your check or money order out for.

5. Who do I make my check or money order out to?
You should make your check or money order out to: Greatponies.com

6. Where do I mail my payment?
The address checks, money orders, or well-concealed cash should be mailed to is:

Greatponies.com
PO Box 134
Rupert, Idaho  83350

7. When can I expect my order to arrive?
Under most circumstances, packages will be shipped within two complete business days after payment has been received. Occassionally, shippping is a little bit slower than that if an order is very large (in size and/or number of items) or if I have extenuating circumstances that make getting to the post office difficult.

Packages shipped within the US usually arrive within 2 to 7 days; packages shipped internationally (by airmail) usually arrive within 7 to 10 days. Sometimes shipping time can be a little bit slower or faster than these estimates, however.

8. The price you're asking for X is too high. Will you lower your price?
No. I virtually never lower prices on items due to a customer's request. Partly this is because I think it is unfair to my customers who don't try to negotiate better prices on things they buy from me and partly it is because the prices I charge are based on my own well-researched pricing standards.

I do raise and lower prices on various items in the store regularly, though, based on changes in demand for an item and changes in the number of a particular item that I have in stock. Also, I will correct a price that is an error. If a pony is marked as $100 and it isn't in the "Rare" section, it is probably a typo. :)

9. I bought something from you on eBay. Can I receive the store discount on my eBay order?
No. eBay items are never eligible for any store discounts. You can, however, have an eBay order and a store order shipped together to save on postage.

10. I keep clicking the "add to cart" button, but no matter how many times I do that, my cart stays empty. What is wrong?
The problem is that your computer is not accepting cookies from our website. Since your computer won't accept the cookies, there is no way for the shopping cart to keep track of what you want to order. In order for the shopping cart to work, you will need to configure your computer so that it can accept cookies from our store.

11. I have some items you might be interested in selling in your store. Would you be willing to trade the items I ordered for them?
No. We don't trade items on sale in greatponies.com for other store inventory. The reason is that it is a waste of time and money for us to trade one item for sale for another item of equal value for sale. Under some circumstances we will consider uneven trades (weighted in our favor) for items we need. Don't ask us to trade, though, unless you are prepared to be offended by our trade suggestion. :)

Note: I am a My Little Pony collector myself and will sometimes consider trading to get accessories I am looking for. (You can get an idea of the kinds of accessories I would be interested in by looking at my Accessory Information pages and seeing what is missing.) However, most of the items I'm looking for are rare. You must also be willing to provide references and photos if you are interested in trading.

12. I have a pony I can't identify. Do you know who it is?
We might be able to identify a pony for you; however, since you have the pony in front of you, you can probably figure out who it is faster and easier on your own. There are at least two websites that have search features that can be used to identify an unknown pony: one on Dream Valley and one on the My Little Pony Collector's website. If your pony doesn't appear in either of these searches, then you may have a "fake" My Little Pony. Check out the Fabulous Fakie Guide for some photos of ponies commonly confused with My Little Ponies.

13. I'm trying to find the names of the Birthflower ponies (or the Sweetberry ponies or the Dance 'n Prance ponies, etc.), but you don't have all of them for sale in your store. How can I find the names of all the ponies from that set?
Dream Valley and the My Little Pony Collector's website have comprehensive lists of all the US ponies and many of the non-US ponies that were produced. You can look through their guides to find the names of all the ponies produced in a particular set.

14. I'm trying to find X pony or accessory and I can't find it in your store. Do you have one I can buy or do you know where I can find one?
If something isn't listed for sale in our store, most likely we don't have it for sale - but it doesn't hurt to e-mail and ask anyway. We do usually have items that are waiting to be added to the store, and the item you are looking for might be among them. However, while we have lots of items available for sale, we naturally don't have every My Little Pony item in stock all the time. If you are looking for something we don't have or that is very rare, we would suggest searching on eBay or the My Little Pony Trading Post. (Please use caution, though, particularly at the trading post. Always check references and ask around about prices before agreeing to buy anything.)
